Andrew Lazarus: Rise to The Top of the Hospitality Industry

The price expectation for the hotel was over twenty million dollars.

Speaking to the Newcastle Herald, Lazarus said he was motivated to do anything to get his hands on the pub famously known as “The Beaches,” even with the selling price not being disclosed.

The motivation to buy the hotel stemmed from the fact that Andrew Lazarus’ family had their eyes on the hotel for a very long time.

The Lazarus family owns and operates multiple commercial properties under the Eastern Hotels Group umbrella.

The Eastern Hotels Group has been in operation for over thirty years, and it manages a portfolio of assets that include Granville and the El Toro Hotel & Motor Inn, Shoal Bay Country Club, The Exchange Hotel, Hamilton, The Vauxhall Inn, The Eastern in Bondi Junction, and the Warwick Farm.

Peter Lazarus, who is the director of the Eastern Hotels Groups, will foresee the daily running of the beach hotel.

Peter Lazarus was previously involved in the $6.5 million renovations of the Shoal Bay country club.

A Newcastle trophy asset is the words that Deane Moore of Moore & Moore Real Estate and Mike Wheatley of Knight Frank used to market the beach hotel.

The beach hotel’s location has made it very popular among the locals.

Located minutes from Newcastle’s CBD, the 1858sqm hotel features expansive verandas that overlook the Merewether surf beach, one of the region’s most beloved beaches, giving you a magnificent view of the ocean.

After thirty years of owning the pub, long-term owner John Twohill had mixed emotions about the sale.

There is a possibility of remodeling the hotel, but the Andrew Lazarus family must consult the community and architect before putting anything in motion.
