Lightfoot said that moving forward, October 2 shall be renamed to Mahatma Gandhi day to cement his work’s contributions to the culture of Chicago. The naming of October 2 as the mahatma Gandhi day will not eliminate crime but will remind the citizens that there are other nonviolent ways to solve such conflicts.
