Vik Bansal Recycling Waste for a Sustainable Future

The great pacific garbage patch contains plastic, which is harmful to marine life. Plastic is also indirectly harmful to human health. When the marine life ingests the microplastics, it ends up in seafood which people consume. By 2050, it is estimated that human beings will produce 27 billion tonnes of solid waste. That’s just one of the effects of plastics on the environment.

Luckily, governments are making efforts towards a sustainable future. Australia is one of the countries making efforts to get rid of plastic. The Recycling modernization fund will transform the country’s waste and recycling industry. The fund will receive $190 million from the government and will create 10,000 jobs.

Cleanaway’s CEO, Vik Bansal, believes the contribution will help waste management to invest in innovation. Cleanaway transforms waste into something with value. Most people don’t give much thought to what happens to the waste after they dispose of it.

Australia has a National Waste Policy Action plan to change the way they looked at the waste. One of the plan’s goals is to ban the export of waste plastic, glass, and tires. It also plans on increasing the use of recycled content.

Sustainability is basic to everything Cleanaway does. Basil and his team view waste not as a problem but a useful resource for every community. By investing in the waste industry, Australia embraces a sustainable future. Vik Bansal became the managing director and CEO of Cleanaway in 2015 and has 20 years of experience from various executive roles in the United States, Asia, and Australia. Vik has a track record of leading organizations through growth and improvement. Vik has also worked for Valmont industries as the Chief operating officer and has also been in the same company as group president in Valmont’s global engineer infrastructure products segment.
