Larry Baer Sf Giants CEO San Francisco’s Living Legend

When I think of Chicago, my mind associates the city with none other than Michael Jordan. Boston, vivid pictures of, Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Ray Allen, and a few more legends. Now, the next time the television, radio, or even the guy at the coffee shop mentions San Francisco, Larry Baer will subconsciously be the first face I see.

Larry Baer, the Giants CEO, not only embodies baseball, additionally, he also defines San Francisco California. Larry Baer began his journey with the ball club in 1980 to fill the role of marketing director. After a brief three-year stint, the future SF CEO decided to attend the prestigious, and highly touted Harvard University in order to obtain his MBA.

Not long after, in the year 1992, Larry Baer’s following actions resembled a game of chess in my opinion. Bouncing around different positions, including CBS, a leading television network, the soon to be SF CEO purchased the Giants franchise with the help of Peter Magowan.

At this point, the SF Giants CEO presence had been recognized, as he was named the active executive VP. Within four years, Larry Baer was then appointed the “COO”.

In Baer’s first year as President and CEO, the San Francisco Giants won their second world series ever! With Larry Baer captaining the ship, the SF Giants amassed three world series championships within five years! Baer’s ambition, dedication, and tenacity earned so many accolades. In the year 2000 Baer aided in the construction, and development of the prestigious ATT Park.

Larry Baer wears so many hats. Although due to the textbook definition “jack of all trades” it’s nearly offensive to compliment him in that fashion. Larry Baer has his hand in just about every element with regards to the SF Giants. Larry Baer acts as President and CEO, and Chairman and CEO of Giants Development Services. There is so much more to “Larry Baer the CEO of the SF Giants”. Piers and the public displayed overwhelmingly admiration and respect to Baer by honoring him the “Distinguished Leadership/For Civic Leadership” award in 1996.

Eleven years ago, the city of San Francisco literally named Larry Baer “Person of the Year” by the boys and girls club.
