Boris Ivanov: Success Story
Boris Ivanov is the CEO and founder of GPV Global Resources, an international petroleum exploration, and production company. The company was launched in Russia nine years ago before going international and now has interests in Africa and South America. He has in-depth knowledge and experience in international relations, finance, and the petroleum industry. He studied international business before embarking on his career. Boris worked in the Ministry of International Affairs of the Russian Federation from 1983 to 1993. During his tenure in the Washington D.C. Soviet embassy, he handled various foreign issues creating a vital professional network.
Boris Ivanov resigned in 1993 and plunged into the private sector. Firstly, he worked as a consultant of an oil business in Russia for a year before becoming the vice-president of Unibest Bank, Moscow, in 1995. His duties were mainly concerned with the financing of the oil and gas sectors until 2000. Then, he was tapped by the troubled Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG to help it regain its financial foothold. In 2004, he went back to the petroleum industry, where he took advised the Chairman of Gazprombank OJSC. Boris Ivanov supervised global operations and expansion in the company. Boris was tasked with leading Gazprom Exploration and Production B.V. in its endeavors of landing upstream projects. Gazprom scored major successes under his leadership.
The subsidiary signed a power plant construction deal worth $1 billion in Namibia in 2009, invested heavily in extracting oil and natural gas in Nigeria besides discovering gas in Algeria. The discovery in Algeria was the first of its kind outside Russia, In 2011, Boris Ivanov took up the CEO position in GPV Global Resources B.V. As the head of the business he was responsible for setting the objectives and allowing the executives to execute the strategies. The place great emphasis on forming teams with requisite skills and experiences. Boris also makes informed decisions that are aligned with the future of the company. Although he finds himself traveling a lot around the globe due to the nature of his job, Boris Ivanov also values his personal life. He spends quality time with his family and friends. He is also a football enthusiast and loves classical music. Besides, he takes part in charitable initiatives and cultural activities.
