Eric Lefkofsky Takes on Chicago City, Embracing Innovation and Technology

Eric Lefkofsky, CEO of Tempus, described during the annual Watch event on Startups in Chicago the growth of his startup health-tech company and how it has pivoted during the beginning of the pandemic to testing Covid-19. He also offered his general thoughts on the struggles in Chicago which other rising tech hubs face. Eric doesn’t believe that Chicago is doing much when it comes to competing with other cities like Miami and Austin in the sector of tech talent. He also doesn’t think it will ever happen since it has never done that in its DNA. The city has always experienced a hard time in embracing risks nor technology or those individuals who aim to bring innovation. An analysis from Eric Lefkofsky states that other areas in the country have been willing to offer support towards its people who look up to innovative and start tech companies.

Such individuals have an added advantage. Despite being an incredible city, Chicago needs to get together its act together. It should then try to find various ways to environmentally build a super friendly approach towards individuals who aim to start companies. Eric Lefkofsky believes Chicago is in ness of religion. It has the needed ingredients, which are top-tier than other cities that can be used for technology. An example is its work ethics in the Midwest and proximity to top universities. The leaders of Chicago need to make the city become a future tech hub by prioritizing innovation. For Eric Lefkofsky, leadership should be extensively implemented in the city while involving the public people in decision-making and flexibility in movement. Comparing GM Company to Tempus, the firm only changed recently about having to manufacture only electric vehicles. Just like Tempus, GM opted to do everything towards the preparation of embracing new technologies in manufacturing future automobiles. It is a new path to the way forward, which they have created for other companies.
