Alejandro Betancourt Lopez is a businessman, entrepreneur and investor from Venezuela. He is the president of Hawkers, a sunglasses company based in Spain. He is also the director of Pacific Exploration and Production Corp, an energy company, and leader of the O’Hara Administration, an investment firm.

The great-grandson of former Venezuelan president, Hermogenes Lopez, Alejandro Betancourt Lopez was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He then received bachelor’s degrees in both Business Administration and Economics from Suffolk University in Massachusetts.
Betancourt began his career in management at BGB Energy, the Venezuelan branch of Kawasaki Heavy Industries. From there, Betancourt became part of the executive team of Guruceaga Group, a commodities trading firm. This led to Betancourt becoming the Commercial Manager for Latin America at the UK branch of ICC-OEOC, which provided technological solutions for the offshore oil industry. In 2007, Alejandro Betancourt Lopez co-founded DA with Pedro Trebbau Lopez. The focus of the company was to expand the thermonuclear power sector.
Years of experience in the energy sector led Betancourt to start the O’Hara Administration, an international asset management company. He then acquired 20 percent of the stock in Pacific Exploration and Production before becoming the company’s director. Alejandro Betancourt Lopez, along with other investors, created the Banque du Dakar in Senegal to provide banking services to French-speaking Africans. Another purpose of the Banque du Dakar is to encourage the growth of business in the sub-Saharan region, as well as throughout Africa.
In 2016, Betancourt became the president of Hawkers. Betancourt was one of the investors brought in to financially stabilize the company. Under the leadership of Alejandro Betancourt Lopez, Hawkers has grown into a brand recognized throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Hawkers uses social media and influencers, as well as word-of-mouth advertising to market their sunglasses. Betancourt attributes his success to working long hours and surrounding himself with high-performance work teams.
Outside of business, Betancourt is involved in charity work. He supports youth-oriented activities such as sports and science and technology programs. He has also given to anti-drug programs.
