Stephen Bittel has been heading the commercial real estate development in Southern Florida for some time. His company, Terranova Corporation, is one of the leading commercial real estate development companies in the state. He has been the leader of Terranova since its founding. As he celebrates the fortieth anniversary of the company, Stephen Bittel reflects on the many years in business.
How About in the Beginning
Bittel began Terranova during his second year at the University of Miami Law School. Initially, the company was responsible for strip mall shopping centers. As the anchored grocery stores grew, Terranova stepped in to assist.
Building Impact
In the beginning, Southern Florida’s communities were not thriving from a commercial standpoint. Stephen Bittel and Terranova helped provide the locals with jobs in construction and more. The increase in jobs meant a boost to the local economies of Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties.
Technology and Commercial Real Estate
The advancements in technology offered Terranova an opportunity for growth. Stephen Bittel provided his businesses with outdoor cafes and internet hot spots. The ongoing development of technology meant that companies could remain open longer. They did so by giving customers a haven to use their technology devices.

Coral Gables Miracle Mile brought Stephen Bittel and Terranova to develop many hotels and other hospitality centers. It is an expansive area offering the local economy more hospitality sector jobs; Bittel has propelled the future of this area. The growing community provided lighting and other resources for the increasing tourism industry.

Bittel attended and graduated from Bowdoin College. He also attended and graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law. Stephen Bittel grew up in Miami-Dade and remained there as an active and productive member of society.
