Vijay Eswaran is the Executive Chairman and Founder of the QI Group of companies which has its presence in different sectors such as hospitality, education, financial services and direct selling. The firm’s flagship subsidiary, QNET established in 1998 is a global firm that has successfully merged e-commerce with the traditional method of sales.

He admits that he wanted to merge the global reach of the internet with the people’s power of direct selling during his early years in business. It is the merger that led to the creation of QI. During the first few years of operation, Vijay Eswaran and his partners had long deliberations on what could set them apart.

They then settled on precious metal models that were based on the growing European market. They were even fortunate to procure the rights to sell the coins during the 2000 Olympics that were held in Sydney. Out of the 42 coin distributors at the time QNET were ranked third in of sales volume. One lesson Vijay Eswaran has learned over the years is that it’s not companies that succeed but the people in them.

This is why he identified and attracted people of a like mind throughout his journey as an entrepreneur. Some of the traits he looks in people include working hard, sincerity, loyalty and determination. He reiterates that business leader can effectively shape their operations if they treat their operations like a professional football team.

To achieve success all they require is to formulate specific strategies, train hard and assemble the best players. Vijay Eswaran reiterates that business executives can do everything needed to run a successful business, but they will fail without the right people. He admits that his source of motivation comes from the businesses and lives of people they have touched.
