Andre El-Mann Arazi is a real estate investor based out of Mexico City, Mexico. He’s an executive at E-Group, which is a commercial real estate investment firm. Mexico has been struggling with COVID-19, as has the rest of the world. About 160,000 people have been infected and over 19,000 have died. Besides the health toll, there have been social and economic consequences. Some countries, such as Chile, are projected to have their economy shrink by as much as 7.5%. Argentina’s economy will likely shrink by 8%.
Andre El-Mann Arazi said it will take strong leadership to deal with the repercussions of COVID-19. Leaders will need to set a course and then direct it. They’ll need to lead with conviction and keep their team united and cohesive. Andre El-Mann Arazi says other skills it will take are emotional intelligence, communication, planning capacity, innovation and being informed.
One of the skills Andre El-Mann Arazi concentrates most on is emotional intelligence. Many books have been written about this subject. One of his favorites is “Emotional Intelligence in Companies” by Dan Goldman. He said this skill is about maintaining balanced and positive emotions so you can be emphatic with others. Emotional intelligence leads to healthy decision-making during times of stress.
One of the things to come out of the health crisis, Andre El-Mann Arazi said, is the end of micromanagement. With people working from home, managers have had to learn to rely on the independence and responsibility of their employees. Andre El-Mann Arazi has established clear and measurable goals at E-Group for his employees rather than attempt to control their every move.
