Bo Parfet Social Philanthropist

A Michigan native, explorer, philanthropist and a published author, Bo Parfet is an all-round person with a passion for pushing boundaries. He has multiple degrees from various universities in Michigan, including a Master’s degree from Michigan University. Bo Parfet served as a Research Fellow and an investment banker earlier in his career.

In an attempt to discover himself, Bo left Wall Street and begun a journey across all seven continents. He started his journey in Tanzania, where he aimed to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. As a novice in the climbing world, he set out his sights on achieving the seven summits this is the adventure where one climbs the highest mountain in each continent. Bo cleared the summits impressively after four years making him one of the only 157 people in the United States to have completed the challenge.

Upon his return, he created the; 7 summits award; the award in the form of a research grant given to exceptional students to conduct field research on health-care projects. He also organized for seasoned explorers and adventurers to speak to students at The Kellogg School of Management about the leadership lessons they have achieved during their explorations.

Bo Parfet founded a philanthropic venture capital firm with his wife Meredith called Denali Venture Philanthropy in 2013. The capital aims to bring together investors who are interested in social change. They aim to create a legacy of philanthropy and social change during these modern times.

Bo was also in a team that discovered 29 new plant species during an Mt Kilimanjaro climb. He has written several books that outline his experiences and the challenges he faced during his expeditions.
