Greg Blatt On What Makes A Great Leader

There are different perspectives about leadership. It is not all about power and fame. Leadership is more than being there for your subjects and decision making. Some people believe that leaders are born, while others top trust leaders are made. For Greg Blatt, leaders are individuals who are ready to learn from their mistakes. People who are open to ideas and have visionary ideas.

Leadership comes with responsibility, as Greg states. It is with great shock that most leaders are worse than they appear to the public. The most important element they care about is the public image and not the well-being of the company. For instance, if one is a CEO of large company, they will prefer employing their family members. This is beyond the ethical values of a great and visionary leader.

A good leader should not have partiality, whatever the case. There are different virtues a leader should have to ensure there is a smooth running of an organization. Greg Blatt advises that since the workload is maximum when you are a leader, always ensure that your schedule is on point. Never overschedule your tasks because this obstructs logical and progressive thinking. At times, it is wise to plan a day wisely so that there is some time to be free and unscheduled.

Having free time helps in balancing between being engaged both actively and proactively. A good leader should be flexible. This is achieved by having a team that constitutes the best personnel. This team should be ready to learn and contribute towards achieving the set goals. Always be curious as a leader because this enables real progression while keeping in mind that the path followed leads to the required stage of growth and stability.

Greg Blatt gained his top leadership skills after working as a lawyer and CEO in IAC. He is an alumnus of Colgate and Columbia Universities and holds a B.A. in English Literature and a doctorate of Law.
