Kevin Plank Had A Dream Of Riches With T-Shirts

A very successful sportswear company took less than twenty years to reach the height of being the best in the world. The Under Armour company was founded by Kevin Plank who also serves as Chairman. The success of his company is based on the same principles that he followed during his career as a football player, and now has inscribed in his headquarters in Baltimore.

Perform like a teammate.” Kevin Plank grew up in a city where his mom served as Mayor, Kensington, Maryland, and his father was a land developer. Okabj started playing football at an early age in school. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he received his BA and MA in Business Administration.

Kevin Plank started designing T Shirts in the basement of his grandmother’s house in Washington, DC using the name Under Armour. He sent some of the shirts to his friend who played professional football, and asked him if he would pass them out to other players in the locker room. These shirts were good at helping soak up body sweat. In 1996 he earned $17,000 for his company after selling 500 of his HeatGear T Shirts by Under Armour.

In 1999, Kevin Plank took out a $250,000 ad campaign in ESPN Magazine that netted him over $1 million dollars in direct sales. V=By 2010, Under Armour’s revenue was $1 billion in sales. Sports teams had started purchasing the clothing. In 2015, Under Armour acquired two fitness apps for $475 million dollars to build a global digital health platform. A non performance women and menswear line was introduced by the creative team of Under Armour.

Kevin Plank and his Under Armour company currently employ over 11,000 people, and still based in Baltimore, Maryland. According to Forbes, in 2019 he had a net worth of 1.9 billion, and is on multiple boards in the United States. He also sits on the board of The University of Maryland’s Robert H.
