Leopoldo Alejandro Betancourt López: A recognized Global businessperson from Venezuela
Alejandro Betancourt Lopez has contributed his financial expertise to support efforts to strengthen local financial inclusion in Venezuela. He is the founder of FEV, a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to education. His philanthropic efforts were recognized by the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment in 2013, when he was named a 2016 New York City Global Thinker, and his charitable foundation was honored with the American Heart Association’s National Citation for their efforts to raise awareness and blood donations during the Venezuelan crisis.

Alejandro Betancourt Lopez served as the chairman and the principal shareholder of AECI, S.A., a Colombian company that is part of Hawkers, until September 2012. Before his time at Hawkers, Alejandro served as the Chief Operating Officer and president of Bacatra Corporation, a gold and silver mining company in Colombia. He served as the CEO of the global engineering company AECI. In the 1980s, he served in the administration of Juan Vicente Gómez, the former president of Venezuela.
Alejandro Betancourt Lopez has great contributions at Hawkers Co. and spearheaded Pacific Exploration & Production Corp., a petroleum and natural gas exploration and production company, based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The company’s management includes seasoned professionals in the areas of exploration, drilling, processing, transportation and development. It is currently engaged in the appraisal and development of the Leismer oil sands project.
