The New CEO of Maven is Ross Levinsohn
The broadcast communications and media industry has had a few outstanding leaders in its history, and Ross Levinsohn is going to make the list of the top 10 of them. He got his start at American University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast communications in 1985. He had an entrepreneurial tendency, so he and a fellow graduate of the program founded their own production company. It did well, and they operated it for four years before amicably deciding to pursue other interests.
Through the 1990s and 2000s, Levinsohn tried out a variety of roles at corporations, small businesses and companies that he founded. Some of his most memorable roles during those years included working at Time Warner Sports in promotions. At that time, Time Warner Sports was a division of HBO. He also worked for CBS’s Sports Line as a producer of its syndicated talk show about the NFL. Levinsohn took roles at some of the top internet companies that were thriving during the internet boom, such as Alta Vista.
In the 2010s, corporations increasingly turned to Ross Levinsohn to fill leadership roles in their organizations. He was selected as the head of Fox Interactive Sports Media in 2010. Not long after that, he was promoted to be the CEO of the whole organization. He was in charge of its daily operations for all of the online properties. Levinsohn moved on to Yahoo!, where he ran its Americas division and served as its interim CEO for a brief period of time. He spent several remarkable years as the CEO of the Los Angeles Times at the end of the 2010s.
The most recent position held by Ross Levinsohn was CEO of Sports Illustrated Media, which is owned and operated by Maven Media. The CEO of Maven wanted Levinsohn to lead the division and expand its branding and reach. Levinsohn did such a good job at it that the company’s CEO and co-founder decided that he would be the best one to take over. Maven announced late last year that Ross Levinsohn would be its newest CEO.
