On February 3rd, 2020 Jacob D, Jenna D, Layla see, Grace P, Ottilie S, Megan P, Sophia D and Florence entered the prestigious, annual academic event where they showcased their expertise in vocabulary, grammar and syntax by translating phrases into the target language provided. This is by any means a small feat as the languages they were asked to translate are ones they have never come across before. The languages selected were Ligurian, Mongo, Idalion, Papiamentu, and Yukhagir. In mid-March the results were announced after the scripts were marked. Jacob D from the senior class, who was the first to introduce this competition in 2017 to Repton, gained a silver while the rest of the competing students received bronze in their categories. Those students who received the bronze and entered in the intermediate level of the competition should be acknowledged and praised for their efforts. They had to compete against students who were a year older than themselves, proving they have the ambition and drive to succeed at whatever they apply themselves to. This is a testament to the quality of students that makeup the Repton student population.
