Alexis Kennedy got an offer from Paradox Interactive to work on their new project Stellaris. BioWare also contacted him to write a story pack for their Dragon Age game. Alexis Kennedy was the first writer ever to be hired by BioWare. It gave Alexis time to focus on reading since the projects were not demanding. Go Here for related Information.
Instead of going on vacation, Alexis began working on a new solo project called Cultist Stimulator. Writing the game codes wasn’t easy since he had not done it in years. He made a lot of mistakes that led to weeks of rewriting.
Alexis Kennedy started exploring game mechanics and wanted to make his games interesting. He started researching about creating games with loose choices instead of tight choices. Loose choices make games more engaging since they feature an element of mystery and uncertainty. Alexis Kennedy wanted to push players to experiment.
Alexis’ Cultist Simulator was engaging since the game resources were scarce and interlinked. The game’s prototype got a positive reception and encouraged him to start developing the game in Unity. Also, the projects at BioWare and Paradox had started moving, and so he had limited time to work on his game.
Alexis Kennedy had two months to design the game. He collaborated with freelancers to create a UI and art to hold the game together. The Cultist Simulator game soon developed from a solo venture to a team project. It brought a lot of success to Kennedy in a few months. Weather Factory, a studio founded by Alexis and Lottie Bevan, designed Cultist Simulator. The game brought recognition and success to the studio, winning an award at the 2019 Develop Star Awards. See This Article for additional information.
Cultist Simulator was developed in less than a year and was the debut game for Weather Factory. It won various awards and earned two nominations for BAFTA awards.
